OHHHHH The <series> tag... I thought we were talking about the program-id.
Code: Select all
<program id='SH000000010000'>
<title>Paid Programming</title>
<showType>Paid Programming</showType>
<series>EP00000001</series>
</program>

I don't know if this change was intentional or not on the Tribune part.. I'll report it to them.

I just did a d/l from Z2I and it is doing the same thing, so either this is a recent change, or it has been that way.....

Do 'we' know if there already are program IDs that have something other than zeros as the first two digits (the new ones)? I just want to know how much time we have to convert any existing database. For now it is quite easy to cut out those two and continue with the 12 character ID.

The <schedules> attribute "repeat" has been replaced with an attribute called "new".

I have a request into TMS for release notes that document the differences and I'll post as I know more.

When will this take effect? I am not getting either attributes.

It's there now.. always has been on the SD feed.

Have you looked at the raw files? What application are you using? This was a fairly late noticed difference so an earlier application may not have noticed it.

Yes I have looked at the raw xml. Neither attribute exists. What is really strange is I have done several downloads today. One of the downloads I did at 14:35 CDT contained the repeat attribute. None of the other downloads contained either the new or the repeat attribute.

Here is an example from the raw xml data files.

well, all those are TV-MA, so probably not something that sets the flag....

Try looking at stuff on a major Network.. NBC, etc. Maybe pull up some soaps that you know are new episodes. Or our common test case... "The Daily Show"

That was just an example. It's HBO's Big Love series. I know for a fact it was a new episode tonight. There is not a single "new" attibute on any of the schedule tags anywhere in the entire file. 13 days worth of data.

A search on the xml file return one instance of any program with "The Daily Show" in it's title.

<program id="SH002930530000">
<title>The Daily Show With Jon Stewart</title>
<description>A humorous slant on top news stories.</description>
<showType>Series</showType>
<series>EP00293053</series>
<originalAirDate>1999-01-11</originalAirDate>
</program>

That same program is repeated in the schedules 41 times with no "new" attributes.

Every new show doesn't seem to carry the 'new' attribute...yet. OriginalAirDate does appear consistently. The same was announced with regard to the 'repeat' attribute when it came out, don't use it as the sole qualifier for a new vs repeat as it may not be there. The Daily show example above is clearly a repeat based on the OriginalAirDate.
